 Blair has a history of supporting the
school system, and it shows in its commitment to excellence. In
1989, Blair was one of 218 schools nation-wide to receive the
National Award of Excellence, awarded by the U.S. Department of
Education. The Blair Schools are recognized by the Nebraska
Department of Education as "Outstanding" and carry a "AA"
accreditation rating.
Dana College

Dana College is a four-year liberal
art college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of
America. founded in 1884 by Danish immigrants, the campus of
approximately 650 students is situated on almost 150 acres in the
hills overlooking Blair.
Although primarily a liberal arts
college, Dana's curriculum is solidly grounded in the realities of
career and professional preparation. The
bachelor of arts and the bachelor of science degree are offered in
37 different fields. In addition to offering diversity in
academics, Dana College offers an environment which is equally
diverse, with students who graduate with technical degrees from
Dana remain in the Blair-Omaha area after graduation. Dana is
involved in several very successful programs of cooperation
between the college and area businesses.
During the January Interim period, students are placed as interns
in area businesses. The College also offers a Week-end College
program for non-traditional students that allows adult learners
the opportunity to earn a baccalaureate degree by attending
classes on alternating weekends.
Vocational Schools
Metropolitan Community College is just
25 minutes from Blair. the school's primary responsibility is to
help students qualify for the employment needs of area business
and industry. Metro. Community College also offers an Industrial
Training Center designed to extend educational opportunities to
business and industry, as well as to it's students.
