The Blair Community Schools encompass over 142 square miles. A consolidation effort in 1969 combined 19 rural school districts into the Blair Community Schools. Since then, a constant and steady growth in student population has been maintained. With 4 neighborhood elementary schools, a newly constructed 3-5 grade upper elementary school and 6-8 grade middle school, in addition to an excellent 9-12 senior high school facility, the district feels confident in meeting the needs of the growing student population. Dana College

Dana is a four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Founded in 1884 by Danish immigrants, the campus of approximately 650 students is situated on almost 150 acres in the hills overlooking Blair.

Although primarily a liberal arts college, Dana’s curriculum is solidly grounded in the realities of career and professional preparation. The college uses ACT scores and high school performance in determining admission to college. USA Today proclaimed Dana College to be the “choosiest college in Nebraska in admissions.” The Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science degrees are offered in 37 different fields. In addition to offering diversity in academics, Dana College offers an environment, which is equally diverse, with students from eleven foreign countries, twenty-six states, and a host of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Dana is involved in several very successful programs of cooperation between the college and area businesses. During the January Interim period, students are placed as interns in area businesses. The college also offers a Weekend College program, which allows non-traditional students the opportunity to earn a baccalaureate degree.
