Health Services Medical Facilities

Since 1956, Memorial Community Hospital
has been the proud principal health care provider for the
communities of Burt and Washington counties. Community commitment
was instrumental in founding Memorial Community Hospital, with
over 80 groups uniting to undertake a door-to-door campaign in
Blair, Herman, Arlington, Fort Calhoun, Tekamah and all the rural
townships to raise the needed funds for construction.
Through community vision, unbridled energy and organization, the
people of Burt and Washington counties worked to make MCH a
reality. MCH, in turn has responded with equal commitment, vision
and energy, providing superior health care services for more than
40 years.
MCH has responded to this growth with proactive development and
increased health care services, programs and facilities. Our
professional staff is committed to ensuring courteous, competent
and respectful treatment of patients and their entire families.
In 1993, MCH developed a three-phase expansion plan to improve the
way health care is delivered. Phase I, which has been completed,
included the acquisition and/or new construction of three family
practice clinics in Blair, Tekamah and Fort Calhoun; renovations
to 60% of the hospital and implementation of technologically
advanced equipment. Phase II, schedule to begin the Spring of
1999, includes the new construction of a primary care medical
center attached to the hospital. Phase III will address
renovations to the remaining 40% of the hospital.
Our commitment is to the communities we serve and we will work to
ensure quality health care is always close to home.
Health Services
MCH Health System provides a variety of
quality health services - close to home. The following represents
only a few of our services.
- Cardiopulmonary Rehab - Our team is
made up of cardiologists, pulmonologists, licensed dieticians,
physical therapists, exercise specialists, and social service
counselors. Our comprehensive rehab program helps individuals
diagnosed with pulmonary and cardiology diseases understand,
control and alleviate disabling symptoms and increase the
ability to perform everyday activities.
- Emergency Room Services - Our 24-hour
emergency room team is made up of health care professionals
trained in adult, pediatric and cardiac trauma care. Our close
ties with area rescue units and Omaha's trauma helicopter
service, MedFlight, gives area residents direct access to MCH
or, if needed, direct access to specialized trauma care in
Omaha.
- Home Health and Hospice -
Burt-Washington Home Health and Hospice sees patients from all
stages of life - from the infant to the young adult to the
senior citizen. Some of the services we provide include: skilled
nursing; hospice care; physical, occupational and speech
therapy; new born care; medical social services; and home health
aide to assist with personal care needs. Our nurses and health
care professionals continually look for new ways to offer
professional care with a personal touch in our seven-county
service area.
- Outpatient Specialty Clinic - Our
newly constructed 7,000 sq. foot facility is home to many
visiting specialists in areas such as: cardiology, ent,
gastroenterology, ob/gyn, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedics,
pediatrics, podiatry, pulmonology, urology and vascular.
- Primary Care Clinic Network - MCH
