Blair, Nebraska is a progressive community of approximately 8000 residents. Located in Washington County, Blair is centrally located on the eastern border of Nebraska and is just twenty minutes north of metropolitan Omaha. Washington County was one of only five counties that had a true increase in population according to the 2000 census. Blair benefits from its proximity to Omaha, which allows much of the workforce to commute to their jobs.

Blair is far from a “residential community”. Blair’s Bio-refinery campus is home to Cargill, a wet corn-milling facility, Cargill Sweeteners, Polyols, NatureWorks LLC and PGLA-1. Purac, Cargill’s partner in PGLA-1, and Evonik also operate facilities on the campus. In 2008, Novozymes announced that they would join the campus with a new $80 - $100 million dollar enzyme manufacturing facility by 2010.

Our existing businesses have also seen tremendous growth. Concrete Equipment Company, Mid-America Computer Corporation, Woodhouse Auto Group and D.L. Blair are a few of the businesses with employment growth.

Education is the foundation of our community. Blair Community Schools consistently ranks with the top schools in the state. Blair is also proud to be the home of Dana College. Many of Dana’s graduates choose to live and work in Blair following graduation.

Our community continues to grow. These are exciting times in the Blair Area. Various retail centers, restaurants, and businesses both large and small are moving to the Blair Area. Our Downtown business district has updated sidewalks, handicapped accessible ramping, benches and decorative streetlights. The City of Blair recently updated its comprehensive plan for the community. While we are pleased with our growth, we continue to plan future expansions for our community.
